RYA Club Contact

We are aware of the pressure you are facing due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak and we want to offer our support to you. As the situation develops, please be reassured that our primary concern is the health of our members, affiliated clubs, classes, recognised training centres, instructors and volunteers. Our thoughts are with our entire network during these challenging times.

The guidance available at the link below has been put together to assist clubs, classes and training centres, and is consistent with advice from the UK government and Public Health England.  As an immediate course of action we have put together the following FAQ’s which we hope will answer will answer any immediate concerns you may have.  This will be updated as this situation changes.

Coronavirus FAQ’s

You may also have seen that the RYA has released a statement on the decision to postpone our directly organised events and training until at least April 30. This includes –

  • RYA Club Development Forums

  • Regional Instructor Training Days

  • OnBoard Instructor Development Days

  • RYA Disability Awareness Training

  • RYA Race Official Training Courses

  • RYA Race Official Regional Conferences

  • Instructor courses and revalidations organised by and booked through the RYA and scheduled to run between 20 March and 30 April (dates beyond this timeframe will be reviewed in April).

We have also taken the decision to postpone all Discover Sailing events until the 1st July 2020.

These measures only impact events and training directly organised by the RYA. We urge you as RYA Affiliated clubs to review your own activities and carry out your own risk assessments using the latest guidance on coronavirus.  This is important as you will all have different considerations which may include (but not limited to):-

  • The current risk within your particular county or area

  • The nature of the activity and number of participants

  • The age and vulnerability of the participants and others involved

  • The likelihood of participants being in physical contact or close proximity to one another

  • The hand-washing and other hygiene facilities onsite

The latest government advice can be found here.

We will continue to support you over this difficult period. Please get in touch if you have any further questions at sport.dev@rya.org.uk or 02380 604100.

We wish you all the best in the days and weeks ahead.

Kind regards,

Alistair Dickson

RYA Director of Sport Development
